Music Ministry

Choir

Our Adult Choir is made up of women and men (age 18 &up) who want to sing, or “make a joyful noise,” for the glory of God.

Choir is a ministry that shares our faith and serves the community as members grow deeper in their own spiritual growth.

This group leads the music for our Sunday 9:00am Mass each week from September through May. The choir sings for other special liturgies throughout the year, such as Midnight Mass, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

Rehearsals are held on Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30pm. The group learns a variety of music—much of it sung in four-part harmony. Most choir members don’t have a formal music background, but they seem to find joy in learning and growing from their choir experience, as well as sharing their musical gifts with the parish.

Summer Singing Practice

During the summer, when the choir is on summer break, new and returning members are given an opportunity to learn more about music techniques, such as reading music, rhythms, part singing, sight-reading new music etc. This allows them to build confidence and strengthen their musical skills in a relaxed environment.

Practices are on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30pm in June - August.

Cantors

Adult vocalists with performing and music-reading experience are trained and mentored to lead the congregation at weekend and holy day parish liturgies.

Other vocalists may choose to participate in the cantor group program, which offers less experienced singers the opportunity to use their musical gifts within an ensemble setting.

Children's Choir

Our parish children in Grades 3-6 participate in our Children's Choir, which practices after school.

In this ministry, the children learn more than the words to the songs. They also learn how we choose the music to enhance the Scriptures and focus of each Mass, as well as techniques of leading the congregation in music.

Our Children's Choir has sung at our Christmas Eve Mass and usually sings during a Mass once a month.

INTERESTED? QUESTIONS?

If your child would like to participate in this choir, please contact Nancy Mills (email or 812-477-8923) or Kim Krutchen (email)

We're grateful for funding of this program through

the Children's Revival of Participation at Sunday Mass Grant from Saint Meinrad.
