Religious Education Programs for Children and Youth
Carol Ann Gaddis, Director of Religious Education
Holy Rosary Parish and School take pride in partnering with parents and families to provide for the religious needs of our young people. As the Church tells us, “Parents are the primary educator of their children in the matters of faith and morals” and we believe that wholeheartedly, as a parish. You, as parents, have the responsibility to model for your children (and for our community) what it means to be church by your stories, expressions and examples of faith in a God who loves us unconditionally, has great mercy and shows forgiveness, and has the power to transform our life. We support you in your endeavors by taking our responsibility of teaching the doctrine of the church seriously. Together, with God’s goodness, we can do great things to help our children value a life-long faith and desire a relationship with God, Father, Son and Spirit.
Parish Religious Education Program
Because of the dynamics of our parish programs and in order to help families within that program be more actively involved in the formation of their children, Holy Rosary has adopted a “spiral method” of religious education for our children who attend public school or who are home schooled. In this method, students in each grade level study seven key concepts of our faith with age appropriate material. The seven concepts are: Revelation, Trinity, Church, Jesus Christ, Sacraments, Morality, and Kingdom of God. Ideally, the students are all learning about the church during the same three weeks of class. The value of this model is the uniformity in family curriculum and the encouragement of students to continue learning about these key concepts at greater depth throughout their lives.
Besides weekly classroom sessions for the children, we provide a selection of family faith events throughout the year, a monthly breakfast with parents, and one family retreat a year. We even host a pre-Lent celebration with a bowling and pizza party, just for fun.

Gr. 2: Sacraments: Reconciliation/Eucharist
Gr. 3: Church & Liturgical Year
Gr. 4: Morality
Gr. 5: Sacraments
